...but you can't take the BMW out of the driver. Found last night in Phoenix, this honorable man first performed a 6-point turn, then row-row-rowed his manual transmission into the position below. About 24 inches from the curb at rear, 18 at front. Even the Prius in front of him (not pictured here) performed this death-defying stunt (read: parallel parking) with more grace and accuracy. Saleen: it's Spanish for 'former BMW driver.'(?)

That's an insult to the Spanish language!

I must have been a BMW driver in my past life. I cannot parallel park very well, but I do go back and adjust if I see I am way to far from the curb.

Latin is dead, so it doesn't care.

I can parallel park in one smooth move in front of my home; if there's a spot I can squeeze in (and leave room). Anywhere else. I'm overly cautious and feel like a noob..=(

But parallel parking on a nearly empty street is hard! Maybe he has a problem spacial acuity and awareness. Check your spatial awareness privilege, Charlie!

Truly a sad display. I understand wanting to protect your wheels, but if this is the closest you feel comfortable getting you are a big flapping pussy.

I saw the picture and straight away thought 'has that driver just stopped for something in front of him or is it really crappily parked'. Reading through the article it seems it's the latter. Sad.

I would have been OK with this curb distance given this kind of parking maneuver (see below). Also, he had a date with him and was driving a 'Stang...so this gif really hits home.
